Who is responsible for your data

What we collect
No page here requires an account, and we never ask who you are, how to reach you or how you pay. The web server records routine log entries (IP address, browser type, requested pages and timestamps) to keep the site secure and fix faults. Emails you send us are retained only until the matter is closed.
Cookies
Every page view writes two of our own cookies to your browser:
- mz_vid: an anonymous random ID used to recognise repeat visits; it expires after one year.
- mz_src: notes the route that brought you here, e.g. a typed-in address versus search results; it expires after 30 days and helps us credit referrals to operators.
Clicking through an affiliate link adds two more cookies from our /go/ redirect, mozbiz_session and XSRF-TOKEN. The first lets the redirect complete, the second is a security token. Each disappears about 20 hours later.
We run no advertising trackers and no third-party analytics here. Your browser lets you remove or refuse these cookies whenever you like; every page still loads without them.
Why we may do this
Logs and the redirect cookies are needed to run and secure the site. Visit counting and referral attribution rest on our legitimate interest in knowing which pages are used and in being paid for the readers we send to operators.
